And on the Sixth Day, Enthusiasm and Attendance Really Waned for the George Floyd Protest in Lancaster
Day 6 of the George Floyd protests in Lancaster was, if anything, more sparsely attended and, honestly, whiter than Day 5.
The same chants, the same bunch of younger, scrawny white guys in communist or anarchist t-shirts, out of shape girls with cotton candy colored hair, and about 10% of the crowd being more passionate blacks trying to whip up enthusiasm.
It’s getting a little tedious. I took a few pictures but hardly worth the trouble to upload.
In a too obvious metaphor, the group wandered (marched) aimlessly downtown for a while.
A Lancaster FD truck was parked downtown much of the afternoon to hose down the crowd if it got too hot, or provide medical assistance if someone passed out.
It may pick back up this weekend, but there couldn’t have been more than 60 out today.
On the bright side, people downtown were doing constructive things like putting plants in the street planters, and a lot of retail shops and restaurants that have been closed had their open signs lighted up, so we have that going for us.
